Born and raised in Webster, NY, Dr. William Murphy attended R. L. Thomas High School and graduated in 1975. Following high school graduation, Dr. Murphy enrolled in the College of Agriculture at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In 1979, he was named the "Outstanding Senior in the College of Agriculture" and awarded his BS Degree.

Dr. Murphy is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Genesee Valley Veterinary Medical Association and the New York State Veterinary Medical Society. Along with his veterinary affiliations, he is also an active member at St. Joseph's Church.

Most of Dr. Murphy's free time is spent with his family. Pets include a cat named Amigo and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Cloe.
